The Clinical Interventionist will provide medical advice for the participants of the U.S. Study to Protect Brain Health Through Lifestyle Intervention to Reduce Risk (U.S. POINTER) at Kelsey Research Foundation (KRF). The Clinical Interventionist will review blood pressure measurements and the results of blood laboratory tests with participants to assess progress in improving cardiometabolic health status. The Clinical Interventionist will collaborate with the participant to set goals to work toward continuous improvement in health status. The position requires experience counseling older adults to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviors which will include physical exercise, a healthy diet, and intellectual and social stimulation as well as increased self-monitoring of health metrics that include lipid, glucose, blood pressure, and BMI management. This position requires a person who is detail-orientated and adaptable, has excellent people skills and is highly organized, and is knowledgeable about cardiovascular and metabolic health, physical fitness, and nutrition. The Clinical Interventionist will work closely with other members of the U.S. POINTER study team and under the direction of the KRF medical director and/or study physician to ensure that the needs of the participants and of the study are consistently met.
- Degree from an accredited nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or medical school program
- Experience in providing education and support to patients.
- Strong basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office products).
- Experience using databases.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a professional manner in one-on-one and small group settings, demonstrating high levels of respect and professionalism.
- Ability to work across teams and institutions to promote collaboration and achieve common goals, and ability to motivate
- Research experience preferred
